KG Program
Kindergarten 1 and Pre Kindergarten (Early Learners)
Global Bilingual Academy School has established a dynamic early learners program to satisfy the developmental needs and interests of the three and four year olds. Children at this age are greatly influenced by the adults around them and are dependent on the educational experiences that their teachers provide for them. Our classrooms are staffed by a teacher and either one or two full-time teacher assistants.
Each child’s mental, physical, and social abilities are developed through a multi-sensory approach to education. Individual and group activities stimulate cognitive development and social growth. In addition, teachers often divide classes into smaller work groups and employ a system of learning centers to maximize each child’s achievement.
Our curriculum focuses on helping early learners feel confident and secure as they play, work, and experiment with age-appropriate activities. Understanding that young children learn by experience, children use numerous manipulative materials to ensure that they retain concepts and develop motor skills. Children develop communication skills, learn about the world around them, enjoy books and listen to stories, and engage in artistic and dramatic play experiences. With an emphasis on reading and math readiness, the early learners’ program actively engages children in the learning process while integrating basic skills and traditional values. The math curriculum is first introduced during this early learners’ program. The reading program combines a phonics-based approach with several other methods and modalities to maximize the children’s progress. Science and social studies are also important elements of the early learners’ program. Regular visits to the library/media center are designed to foster in children an appreciation and life-long love of reading. At the same time, specialists in physical education, and art further supplement and enhance the curriculum.
Kindergarten 2 (KG2)
The Kindergarten 2 (Kg2) year is one of the most important years in every child’s educational development. This year prepares children for the formal academic program of first grade. The program is designed to prepare the five-year-old for the challenges of the elementary school. Our kindergarten 2 children are involved in a program for reading and math that will establish a strong academic foundation to ensure future success. During the year, our Kg 2 children will develop reading, writing, and grammar skills. Our Kg2 children are exposed to the world around them through our science program.
Specialists in physical education, and art add to the kindergarten academic curriculum. Kg2 children are scheduled to visit the library/media center. This gives the children additional opportunities to further develop their reading skills, critical thinking skills, and their appreciation of literature. Our kindergarten program develops the mind, motor skills, artistic talents, and social abilities. The children are actively engaged each and every day.
